About Ms. Richardson
When my students enter my classroom, they are encouraged to leave any of their hangups or frustrations at the door. Once they leave, they may find those burdens are easier to bear. This is something my music teachers emphasized as I was growing up in the music world and it is has proved true in my own life. Music allows people to step out of their comfort zone in a place without negativity and harsh judgement.
As a 7th grader who had just lost her older brother, music gave me a way to cope with my loss and turn any of the pain I felt into beautiful song. I never had to talk about my pain in my music classes, but through the power of music, I always felt a little bit better after my band or chorus classes. My music teacher back then would let the class know that he believed in us and that we could be successful in any and every facet of life, and that belief is what inspired me to offer that same support to my students.

I have used my love of music to inspire not only the people I come into contact with in the music world, but also people that don't know much about music or its benefits. I have spent two years in the Miss America Organization promoting my platform "Mentoring through Music" to prove that music provides opportunities for people of all ages to grow and learn how to find success.
